Public Meeting, 15 November, 2023.
Following the distribution of letters throughout the village by the community council depicting a 5-year plan, the pledge public meeting will be held in the primary school hall on Wednesday the 15th of December.
The presentation was opened by the chairman of the council, Stephen Edwards and information was received about recent activities before moving on to hear about the reasons and hopes of our councillors regarding the Children’s Playground, the Gors araea, the Gors Football Pavilion, Maes Eilian Sports Fields and the need to beautify our village.
Details of the plans were received from Councillor Medwyn Roberts, the playground to be renovated by moving equipment closer to the football pitch to enable a car park on the old tennis court, this to include a payment and display system in order to generate income for the village. There will be an emphasis on creating a park for all ages with very important fitness equipment, creating a section for disabled children and adults. It was understood that it was necessary to spend on the pavilion due to growth in the number of men, women and children who play football in Llanfairpwll these days. Cymdeithas Peldroed Cymru emphasizes the necessity of changing rooms which forces expenditure to cover the building.
The audience heard that a new committee to manage the Playground had been created a few days earlier which will act to raise money in order to build a new playground and the Council will look into new changing rooms for Pavillion. Maes Eilain Dressing rooms (new) has received planning permission. Maes Eilian has been appointed as one of the football pitches to be used in the Islands Games in 2027 and everyone hopes to have the plan ready by now. The ideas to beautify the village were very popular, bringing more color to Llanfairpwll by putting up hanging baskets and potted flowers, banners and a house painting scheme. The two speakers emphasized that it is important that the people of the village join in the task and volunteer to help with the preparation work and raise the considerable money that will be needed to fund everything.
The meeting was opened to the audience to ask questions and express opinions.
The response was very positive and by the end of the meeting enthusiasm was evident and everyone thanked the councillors for their work.
